Buro's information products declared 'extremist content'
The Belarusian authorities have labelled Buro's articles as 'extremist content' just a month and a half after we issued two investigations - on 11 December and 9 January. On 31 January, the Chyhunachny District Court of Homel recognised the Buro Media's website and social media pages as containing extremist content.
These measures will not impede our work. In fact, in the face of constant repression in Belarus, they are a quality label. Nearly all independent Belarusian media outlets are declared 'extremist'.
We want to remind our readers that distributing and storing our publications in Belarus can result in administrative penalties, including fines and detention time. The Belarusian authorities define distribution as liking, commenting, sharing, and forwarding of our materials in social media and group chats or personal messages. Following our pages is not illegal, but it may attract the attention of law enforcement officials.
We will continue to provide new and interesting investigations, including those about the officials of Lukashenko's regime. You can access our content safely on the mirror site.
