Buro Media is a member of the international Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP). OCCRP is registered in the U.S. as a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status. This means donations to OCCRP are considered charitable and eligible for a tax deduction. Donors can deduct the donation amount from their taxable income – and thereby pay less in taxes. In effect, part of the donation is offset. Both individuals and companies can donate this way.

 

When donating to OCCRP, you have the option to choose which member organization receives your support. You can support Buro this way. It only takes a few minutes.

WHAT WE DO AND WHY IT MATTERS

Buro is a team of Belarusian investigative journalists. We expose those who use money and power to harm society. We identify and investigate schemes that exhibit signs of corruption and other violations of the law to bring about positive change.

 

We document bribery, fraud, tax evasion, money laundering, nepotism, sanctions circumvention, human rights violations, and other crimes across various sectors – from economics to education, from politics to healthcare.

 

Our editorial team has been operating for over two years. In 2025, we conducted and published 13 exclusive major investigations, several dozen mini-investigations, and investigative news stories.

 

In 2025, we became members of GIJN. Buro participated in the large-scale Dear Compatriots project alongside 30 foreign investigative media outlets. And last fall, two journalists from our team were awarded the Volnaje Slova (Free Word) prize for their investigations.
